The present invention discloses a method, device and system for selecting downlink main carrier to transmit data. The method includes the following steps: the terminal obtains the main carrier selection information configured by the network, and determines the downlink main carrier to transmit the data according to the information. The downlink main carrier is a downlink carrier corresponding to an uplink carrier of the terminal. Therefore the terminal could only detect the downlink main carrier, and does not need to switch continually to detect the downlink carrier unless the signaling which needs to be detected or receives other carriers is received on the main carrier, and the consumption of the terminal battery is saved.
