GENE EXPRESSION PREDICTORS OF CHEMORESISTANCE

Gene profiling signatures are disclosed herein. The gene signatures can predict whether a subject with cancer, such as gastric cancer will be chemoresistant or chemosensitive to cisplatin and fluorouracil chemotherapy. Thus, methods are disclosed for determining whether a subject with cancer will be sensitive to treatment with a chemotherapeutic agent. Methods are provided for increasing sensitivity to the chemotherapeutic agent if EGFR, FGFR-2 and MYC are increased, thus indicating that the cancer has a decreased sensitivity to chemotherapeutic agent. Methods are also provided for increasing sensitivity to the chemotherapeutic agent if one or more ES markers or MYC targets is increased, thus indicating that the cancer has a decreased sensitivity to chemotherapeutic agent.
