The absorber (1) has tubular housing (2) and a ferrous magnetic tappet (4) partially shifted relative to length of center axis of the housing. Coil (3) is firmly connected with the housing. Evaluation electronic circuit (6) detects submersion depth (X) of the tappet in the housing, where the submersion depth is provided by measurement of change of impedance of the coil. The electronic circuit evaluates the coil digitally by controlling the coil with a repetitive defined switching on and off signal of fixed frequency. The signal is formed as a recheck signal.
