<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having a state wherein a door member can be closed and a state wherein the door member cannot be closed, which are selected with simple constitution, when a transfer means and a predetermined rotary body are released from being in press contact with each other. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a release mechanism K which releases the transfer means (transfer belt 100) for transferring an image and the predetermined rotary body (transfer roller 101) from being in press contact with each other when photosensitive members (photoreceptor cartridges 3Y, 3M, 3C, and 3B) are attached or detached; a release lever L coupled to a rotary shaft 20 of the release mechanism and operated to release the press contact state; a guide means (guide groove 4) holding the release lever at one of an operable position P1, an inoperable position P2, and a transport position P3 when the release lever is rotated; and a projection 2a provided at the door member 2 and interfering with a portion of the release lever when the release lever is held at the inoperable position to prevent the door member from being closed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
