PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve usability while controlling copying in the case of recording a digital broadcast program for which one-generation copying is permitted (Copy One Generation). SOLUTION: A copy control method is provided for a reception apparatus for receiving digital contents and a plurality of types of copy control information for controlling copying of the digital contents, and recording the digital contents on a recording medium according to the plurality of types of copy control information. In the method, when first information in the received copy control information shows copy generation information permitting one-generation copying, the digital contents are recorded while being copyable up to a limited number when second information in the received plurality of types of copy control information shows limited-number copy permission, and the digital contents are recorded only once in a copy prohibited state when the second information does not show limited-number copy permission.
