PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that suppresses the generation of noise by suppressing resonance of fan motors of the same type under simple control, when a plurality of fan motors of the same type are installed closely. SOLUTION: When a fan motor for cooling a fixing unit and a fan motor for cooling a low-voltage power supply unit are installed closely in the image forming apparatus, a speed control unit which controls the rotating speed of the fan motor for cooling the fixing unit predicts whether the fan motor reaches a speed range R wherein the fan motor possibly resonates with the fan motor for cooling the low-voltage power supply unit, when continuing to decrease in rotating speed once detecting that the rotating speed of the fan motor decreases. Asa result, when it is determined that the speed range R is reached, the rotational speed of the fan motor for cooling the fixing unit is controlled to increase almost up to the upper limit H1 of the rotating speed suitable for cooling of the fixing unit.
