PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and an image processing method capable of briefly reducing generation of a color which should not be generated in an object image by an influence of a PSF at a pixel level. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus has: a pixel signal extraction part which extracts a pixel signal column including of pixel signals of a plurality of pixels located on the image height direction from image data by color component; a filter processing part which applies a filter having a plurality of tap coefficients corresponding to the number of pixels of the pixel signal column to the extracted pixel signal column to generate a signal column for correction; and a signal column addition part which adds the generated signal column for correction to the pixel signal column to generate a processed signal column, wherein the plurality of tap coefficients include one reference tap coefficient having the maximum value and negative tap coefficients having negative values, in a tap coefficient column in which tap coefficients to be applied to pixel signals located in order in the image height direction are arranged in order so as to correspond to the pixel signals, the reference tap coefficient is unevenly distributed at parts other than the center of the plurality of tap coefficients.
