PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily design and manufacture a plurality of kinds of internal combustion engines having engine efficiency and specific power in a desired range. SOLUTION: This method designs or manufactures the plurality of kinds of the spark-ignition internal combustion engines having single chamber volume of 300 cc or more and mutually different single chamber volume. When the bore diameter of each of the cylinders of the plurality of kinds of the internal combustion engines is expressed as mm, the bore diameter and intake passage of the plurality of kinds of the internal combustion engines are designed (manufactured) so that a value obtained by dividing the bore diameter by a swirl ratio falls in a predetermined range.
