PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical functional device capable of preventing the occurrence of a temperature drift phenomenon caused by a polarization inversion structure in a crystal, and boundary surface distortion in polarization inversion and reducing a temperature drift sufficiently without increasing an optical insertion loss and deteriorating optical modulation characteristics of a drive voltage or the like at this time. SOLUTION: This optical functional device has an electro-optical crystal substrate, a light-wave guiding channel having a polarization inversion region in a part of the electro-optical crystal substrate and formed on a surface of the electro-optical crystal substrate, and a groove for reducing stress between a polarization inversion boundary surface and the light-wave guiding channel caused by the polarization inversion region.
