PURPOSE: A method for transmitting reference signals for a cooperative wireless communication system and a method for allocating radio resources for a relay-based wireless communication system are provided to use wireless resources efficiently by transmitting a reference signal independently in sub frames which are not overlapped with each other. CONSTITUTION: A multi-cell cooperative wireless communication system includes an MS(Mobile Station), a serving BS(Base Station), and a M number of neighboring BSs. The BS and an RS(Relay Station) selects one transmission pattern among transmission patterns of a reference signal. The BS or RS transmits the reference signal through the selected transmission pattern. In order to prevent the overlapping of transmission time, the BS and RS respectively selects a mutually exclusive transmission pattern.
