<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reception performance of a reception system by inserting a known sequence into a vestigial side band (VSB) data stream for transmission. <P>SOLUTION: A digital broadcasting receiver includes a tuner, a demodulation section, and an equalization section. The tuner encodes and interleaves data where known data of a predetermined sequence are inserted into a specified position by adding a parity comprising a prescribed number of bytes, includes a data format where known data bytes at the same position are outputted continuously by a prescribed length within one segment for each determined number of segments, performs trellis encoding to the interleaved data in the ratio of 2/3 to an 8-level symbol, and receives a signal subjected to vestigial side band system modulation and transmitted from a digital broadcasting transmitter. The demodulation section demodulates the signal received by the tuner in a vestigial side band system. The equalization section compensates channel distortion by a channel multipath by the trellis-encoded symbol corresponding to the known data to remove mutual interference between the demodulated signals. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
