PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic pump device for a continuously variable transmission capable of improving energy saving performance.

SOLUTION: In a first hydraulic circuit 25 to which hydraulic fluid is supplied with an electric pump 22, a stop valve 38 capable of preventing the backflow of the hydraulic fluid from the first hydraulic circuit 25 to the electric pump 22 through the close operation is provided in the outlet oil passage 37 of the electric pump 22. The hydraulic fluid is intermittently supplied to the first hydraulic circuit 25 with the electric pump 22.
