PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for forming an image capable of reducing a processing time of a continuous shooting function. SOLUTION: When line data for every line in a main scanning direction as to a document is read P times in a sub-scanning direction by an image sensor 11, (i+kN)-th line data (i is an integer of 1-N; k is an integer of 0-Q; Q=ceiling(P/N): a minimum integer not smaller than P/N) of document data read in a storage part 81 (RAM 82) having N storage areas by an image processing part 4 are stored in an i-th storage area as (i+kN)-th line data.
