<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the updating of a routing table and the transmission of a packet for routing, caused by a transmission line disconnection test. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Disclosed is a method of testing a network 10 which includes the plurality of network devices 11 through 1x, having dynamic routing means and a transmission line connecting the plurality of network devices and is in the form of transmitting a main signal which is a signal for main communication and a sub signal which is a signal used for communication for monitoring the network through the same transmission line. In the method, after the function of the dynamic routing means provided in the network devices 12 and 13, positioned at both ends of a part to disconnect the transmission line, is stopped, the transmission line is disconnected and the test to be performed by disconnecting the main signal is executed. After the end of the test, the disconnected transmission line is reconnected, and the stoppage of the function of the dynamic routing means provided in the network devices 12 and 13 is canceled.
