PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thumbnail generating device with improved identifiability of a motion picture that serves as the source of a thumbnail. SOLUTION: A thumbnail display device includes: a designation means that allows a user to designate a plurality of sections from a motion picture; a storage means for storing positions of the plurality of sections in the motion picture; a coupling means for coupling motion pictures of the plurality of sections; and a display means for displaying, in one thumbnail region each of the leading images of the predetermined number of sections in the plurality of sections, upon the receipt of a thumbnail display instruction.
