PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding apparatus improving the thickness precision of a molded article and a method for manufacturing the molded article. SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing the molded article is provided with a pressing step of: arranging a preform 15 between an upper mold 20 and a lower mold 21 being opened and closed, heating the preform 15 and holding and pressing between the upper mold 20 and the lower mold 21 in a closed state to mold the preform 15; a keeping step of: going through a prescribed time after the pressing step while keeping the relative position between the upper mold 20 and the lower mold 21; and a cooling step of: opening the upper mold 20 and the lower mold 21 and cooling an optical glass element 15' as the molded article.
