1,068,192. Venetian blinds. HUNTER DOUGLAS INTERNATIONAL Ltd. Aug. 4, 1964 [Aug. 2, 1963], No. 31042/64. Heading E1J. The lift-and/or tilt-rod 2 of a Venetian blind is connected at one end to a flexible shaft or cable 3 coupled at its other end to the driven part 7 of a brake mechanism of the type having a spring 11 arranged to contact the inner surface of the housing 9 when the operating handle 17 is rotated in one direction and to be released from the said inner surface when the handle 17 is rotated in the opposite direction, and is such that the weight of the blind causes the driven part 7 of the brake mechanism to cause the spring to expand against the inner surface of the housing 9 and so lock the blind in any vertical position. |
