The method involves using a testing device (1) with a testing program for simulation of an automation system (2). A testing result of the automation system is obtained by the simulation. The testing result is compared with a reference result deviated from specification data by the testing device with the testing program. The specification data in the testing program is implemented or imported. A test basic formula is provided by a user, where the testing program selects the test basic formula by predefined regulation. An independent claim is also included for a device for testing an automation system comprising clamping strips.
