<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating the degree of vulcanization of vulcanized rubber products and capable of easily and accurately estimating the degree of vulcanization of rubber products at the manufacturing site such as in a vulcanizing process without the need for complicated operations. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A test strip having a prescribed shape is collected from a rubber product after a vulcanization process. After the initial thickness t<SB>0</SB>of the test strip is measured, the test strip in a state compressed in such a way that the thickness of the test strip may be reduced by 25% of the initial thickness t<SB>0</SB>(thickness t<SB>2</SB>at the time of compression) by the exertion of a load in the direction of its thickness is heated at a prescribed temperature for a prescribed time. After a heating process, the test strip is released from the compression and left standing to cool for 30 minutes at room temperature, the thickness t<SB>1</SB>of the test strip after aging is measured to determine a compression set [((t<SB>0</SB>-t<SB>1</SB>)/(t<SB>0-</SB>t<SB>2</SB>))×100].
