PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing isopropanol by directly reacting acetone with hydrogen using an adiabatic reactor, whereby isopropanol can be produced with high selectivity at a higher reaction temperature compared to those in conventional methods, thereby enabling heat recovery. SOLUTION: The method for producing isopropanol comprises a step of feeding a raw material containing acetone and hydrogen to the adiabatic reactor in the presence of a solid catalyst containing copper oxide and zinc oxide and carrying out a reaction so that a reactor outlet temperature reaches 140-160°C.
