<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery system capable of maintaining appropriate pressure in a power generating element following the expansion/contraction of the power generating element associated with charge/discharge of a secondary battery. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A lithium ion secondary battery 10 formed by laminating a plurality of single cells each including a positive electrode, an electrolyte and a negative electrode is clamped between a lower plate 42 and a regulating plate 41 of a regulating means 4 from the laminated direction of the single cells, and a space between the lower plate 42 and regulating plate 41 is enlarged by an amount equivalent to the expansion of the secondary battery 10 when charging the secondary battery 10 and narrowed by an amount equivalent to contraction when discharging the secondary battery 10.
