<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which accurately detects a temperature of a heating member with infrared sensors, determines the presence or absence of a detection error caused by dew condensation, and executes an appropriate temperature control even when it has a high risk of an occurrence of the dew condensation in the infrared sensors due to variations in an usage environment. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus determines the presence or absence of the detection error caused by dew condensation based on respective compensation temperatures of a plurality of infrared sensors and temperature differences of respective detected temperatures, and shifts to a mode for appropriately restricting operations until the detection error is reduced.
