<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus to which a magazine to house recording paper therein is detachably attached, to form an image on the recording paper supplied from the magazine, and which improves productivity by suppressing loss of time to the utmost when replacing the magazine with another one or switching the magazine. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The magazine is provided with a recording means for recording information on manufacture of recording paper. The apparatus body is provided with: a storage means for storing setup data; a reading means for reading the information on the manufacture of recording paper from the recording means of the magazine to be replaced or to be switched; and a decision means for deciding whether the read information on the manufacture of recording paper agrees with the information on the manufacture of recoding paper tied to the setup data stored in the storage means by comparing both of them.
