<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover molybdenum in strong acid-containing waste liquid by a simple and inexpensive method which does not require any heating unit for evaporating and separating nitric acid, etc., or any cooling unit for precipitating and separating a molybdenum compound and which is suitable for energy saving. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Carbonate of a metal selected from Ca, Sr and Ba is added to strong acid-containing waste liquid containing at least sulfuric acid in which molybdenum is present in a dissolved state, whereby the molybdenum in the strong acid-containing waste liquid is recovered.
