METHOD FOR PRODUCING 6,6'-(ALKYLENEDIOXY)DI-2-NAPHTHOIC ACID DIESTER COMPOUND

A 6,6'-(alkylenedioxy)di-2-naphthoic acid diester compound represented by formula (3) is produced by reacting a 2-hydroxy-6-naphthoic acid ester compound represented by formula (1) (wherein R1 represents an alkyl group having 1-20 carbon atoms which may contain an ether bond or an ester bond, or the like) with an alkylenedisulfonic acid ester compound represented by formula (2) (wherein R2 and R3 independently represent an alkyl group having 1-6 carbon atoms, or the like; and X represents an alkylene group having 1-20 carbon atoms which may contain an ether bond or an ester bond) in an organic solvent in the presence of a base.  This method does not produce harmful by-products such as vinyl chloride and is practical for production of a 6,6'-(alkylenedioxy)di-2-naphthoic acid diester compound.
