A mass spectrum with a high mass resolution is automatically obtained over a wide range of mass without judging the complicated number of turns attributable to overtaking of ions in orbit or other operations. First, a mass analysis of a target sample is performed on condition that overtaking of ions never occur to obtain a mass spectrum with a low mass resolution (S1, S2). Peaks appearing in the mass spectrum are extracted based on predetermined conditions, and mass ranges corresponding to the individual extracted peaks are determined, and then analysis conditions on which no overtaking of ions occur are determined for each mass range (S3, S4). According to the analysis conditions, ions within a limited mass range are made to fly in orbit while being selected and ejected by an ion trap to obtain a mass spectrum with a high mass resolution (S5, S6). Finally, the mass spectrum with a low mass resolution and the mass spectrum with a high resolution are combined to produce a mass spectrum over a wide range of mass (S8).
|
