PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a device which has been instructed to execute processing to confirm information related with the history of processing performed by each device without communicating with the other device when confirming the history of processing even when the device which has been instructed to execute the processing further instructs the other device to execute the processing. SOLUTION: When an image forming apparatus 10 instructs a server device 20A to perform the character recognition of image data and to store the result of the character recognition, the server device 20A instructs a server device 20B to perform the character recognition of the image data. When the character recognition is performed by the server device 20B, the character recognition result and data showing the success/failure of the processing of the character recognition are transmitted to the server device 20A. The server device 20A stores the character recognition result, and transmits the data showing the success/failure of the processing of the character recognition and the success/failure of the storage of the character recognition result to the image forming apparatus 10.
