PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-resolution optical fiber gyroscope. SOLUTION: The optical fiber gyroscope includes: an optical fiber 11 which constitutes an orbital light path 10 and which has in at least part thereof an optical amplifier 11a that, upon receiving excitation light, oscillates laser beams L1 and L2 traveling in opposite directions along the orbital light path 10; a semiconductor laser element 14 which emits the excitation light; a WDM coupler 12, disposed on the orbital light path 10, which propagates the excitation light to the optical fiber 11; an optical coupler 13, disposed on the orbital light path 10, which takes part of the laser beams L1 and L2 out of the orbital light path 10; and a photodiode 18 for detecting a frequency difference between the laser beams L1 and L2 taken out of the orbital light path 10. The insertion loss P<SB>1</SB>(dB) of the WDM coupler 12 at the wavelengthsλof the laser beams L1 and L2 is 0.5 to 2 times as large as the insertion loss P<SB>2</SB>(dB) of the optical coupler 13 at the wavelengthsλ, or vice versa.
