PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication system in which a radio terminal can select an appropriate radio communication opposite party while reducing processing loads and power consumption for search processing when a radio base station and a radio relay station can be the candidates of the radio communication opposite party of the radio terminal. SOLUTION: In the radio communication system, the position management device 200 acquires terminal position information indicating the position of the radio terminal 100 (S203). The position management device 200 ranks the radio base station BS and the radio relay stations RS in the ascending order of a distance from the radio terminal 100 on the basis of station position information indicating the positions of the radio base station BS and the radio relay stations RS and the acquired terminal position information (S204, S205) and transmits a rank notice to the radio terminal 100 (S206). The radio terminal 100 performs the search processing only to the prescribed number of high-order ones at a short distance from the radio terminal 100 among the radio base station BS and the radio relay stations RS on the basis of the rank notice (S207).
