摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine appropriately determining a reduction in the recirculation quantity of exhaust gas to the opening degree of a metering valve caused by accumulation of deposit on an exhaust gas recirculation passage or the like, and setting an appropriate ignition timing corresponding to the recirculation quantity of exhaust gas. SOLUTION: An electronic control device 100 sets the ignition timing according to the recirculation quantity of exhaust gas estimated based on the opening degree of an EGR valve 44 for efficient engine operation while inhibiting knocking, and executes feedback control retarding the ignition timing when knocking is detected with a knocking sensor 66 and advancing ignition timing when knocking is not detected. The electronic control device 100 corrects the ignition timing to be set according to a recirculation quantity to a retardation side when it is determined that the occurrence frequency of knocking during the recirculation of exhaust gas is higher than the occurrence frequency of knocking during the stop of recirculation of exhaust gas.
