PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking force control device and a braking force control method suppressing an excessive braking force when a driver's demanding deceleration is high. SOLUTION: In the braking force control device including a base pressure operation unit 32a that detects the driver's demanding deceleration, an HU 31 and a wheel cylinder W/C that generate the braking force, a target pressure operation unit 32c that computes a large first gain UP_GAIN1 and a second gain UP_GAIN2 according to the lapse of time and computes a target deceleration based on the demanding deceleration, the first gain UP_GAIN1, and the second gain UP_GAIN2, and a brake controller 32 that controls the HU 31 based on the target deceleration, the higher the demanding deceleration is, the more the target pressure operation unit 32c decreases the second gain UP_GAIN2.
