PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for predicting teratogenesis of a chemical substance simply and accurately. SOLUTION: The method for predicting teratogenesis of a chemical substance, which comprises the steps of (1) determining inhibitory activity SD, inhibitory activity DG, and optionally inhibitory activity SG, which are defined below, (2) comparing the inhibitory activity SG or the inhibitory activity DG with a reference value that is set in advance, and (3) comparing the inhibitory activity SD with the inhibitory activity DG, wherein, the inhibitory activity SD represents the activity of the chemical substance to inhibit the differentiation of a stem cell derived from a mammal, the inhibitory activity DG represents the an activity of the chemical substance to inhibit the proliferation of a differentiated cell derived from a mammal, and the inhibitory activity SG represents the activity of the chemical substance to inhibit the proliferation of a stem cell derived from a mammal.
