<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that a device cost and a maintenance cost become large when a speech communication function is provided and the portability of a data terminal needed to be carried for maintenance work is bad, in a remote supervisory controller for which a master station apparatus and a slave station apparatus are connected by a wide area communication network. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the remote supervisory controller which stores maintenance data and is provided with the master station apparatus 1 and the slave station apparatus 31 connected by the wide area connection network 21 to transmit signals with each other, the master station apparatus 1 and the slave station apparatus 31 are provided with an interface for connecting data terminals 51 and 53 for maintenance, the maintenance data is read from the master station apparatus 1 or the slave station apparatus 31 through the data terminals 51 and 53 for maintenance and the maintenance data can be written to the master station apparatus 1 or the slave station apparatus 31. The maintenance data can be preserved in the storage part of the data terminals 51 and 53 for maintenance, and a character string inputted from the data terminal 51 or 53 for maintenance is displayed at the data terminal 53 or 51 for maintenance through the wide area communication network 21.
