PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device that effectively and stably prevents wrapping of a recording medium around a fixing belt by facilitating and stabilizing separation of a recording medium from a fixing belt, and to provide an image forming apparatus that has the same. SOLUTION: The fixing device 7 includes the fixing belt 21, a fixing heater 23, a pressure roller 25, a pressure receiving member 27, a pressure receiving backup member 29, a pressing member 31, a separating plate 35, and a separating backup member 37. The pressing member 31 and the separating backup member 37 increase the belt curvature R of the downstream side of a fixing nip part N in the rotating direction of the fixing belt 21, thereby facilitating separation of paper P.
