<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color conversion device taking advantage of Pure Gray without deteriorating smooth gradation reproduction of a document image as a whole. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The color conversion device includes: a Pure Gray permission/prohibition determination means to discriminate whether a drawing object includes both achromatic colors and chromatic colors or includes only achromatic colors based on a color distribution for each drawing object in a printed document, prohibit a Pure Gray function to the drawing object including both the achromatic colors and chromatic colors, and permit the Pure Gray function to the drawing object including only achromatic colors; and a color conversion means to execute color conversion using the Pure Gray function to the permitted drawing object, and execute color conversion without using the Pure Gray function to the prohibited drawing object.
