<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an "information processing apparatus" and a "method of starting an application" which can shorten a time until a function desired by a user becomes usable when power is turned on. <P>SOLUTION: Different AV functions, i.e., a radio broadcast receiving function, a TV broadcast receiving function, a DVD reproducing function, and a CD reproducing function which are usually started in order within one AV application are each made into an application program. When a power supply 30 is turned on, a control unit 4 preferentially starts the application program of the function previously designated by a user by the operation of an operating unit 20 and stored in an EEPROM 3 as preferred function information. When its starting process ends, an initial screen of the function started is displayed in a display 40 so as to be ready to accept user operations so as to make the user-designated function usable at early stages after the starting process for the application program has ended. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
