<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower reduction in contrast caused by optical anisotropy of a flexible substrate used in a liquid crystal cell, so that a display unit and a member under the liquid crystal cell are made to be hardly seen and to simplify design and a manufacturing step at this time in a display wherein the liquid crystal cell is layered on the display unit via a polarizing layer. <P>SOLUTION: A long axis of a liquid crystal molecule 24 located at a center of a liquid crystal layer of the liquid crystal cell 10 and a delay phase axis 26 of the flexible substrate 3 are parallel to each other.
