<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic tape device such as a servo writer capable of writing an accurate servo signal having a fixed distance from a reference edge and a magnetic tape drive free from a read error due to track deviation. <P>SOLUTION: In the magnetic tape device including at least a magnetic head 13, a fixed guide part 14 provided on at least one side of an upper stream side and a lower stream side of a magnetic tape running to the magnetic head adjacently to the magnetic head and guiding the magnetic tape to a running path and an air duct 14a to be a space for eliminating entrained air between the running magnetic tape and an abutting surface 14c formed in the abutting surface 14c abutting on the magnetic tape of the fixed guide part, a sucking means sucking the entrained air at one end of the air duct and tension sensors 20 detecting tension of the magnetic tape at parts in the vicinity of upper stream and lower stream side ends of the magnetic tape running path of the fixed guide part are provided and the sucking means is controlled based on signals from the tension sensors. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
