<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel organic EL (Electroluminescence) element capable of forming an auxiliary electrode for reducing wire resistance on the first electrode layer, without increasing the number of processes, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The invention provides the organic EL element having a substrate, the first electrode layers formed stripe-likely on the substrate, an insulating layer formed to expose the first electrode layer within a light emitting area and within an auxiliary electrode forming area, second electrode layer dividing partitioning walls formed stripe-likely on the insulating layer perpendicularly to a longitudinal direction of the first electrode layer, an auxiliary electrode forming partitioning wall formed to surround the auxiliary electrode forming area on the insulating layer, and having a prescribed width of opening part, an organic EL layer formed on the first electrode layer at least within the light emitting area excepting the opening part of the auxiliary electrode forming partitioning wall, the second electrode layer formed on the organic EL layer, and an auxiliary electrode formed on the first electrode layer within the auxiliary electrode forming area, and comprising a material same to that of the second electrode layer.
