<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for reducing a recognition degree of unevenness in color in the case of directly observing (a luminescent spot of) a light source in a lighting system using a plurality of LEDs as light sources. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this LED lighting system, a plurality of white LED light sources, of which coordinate values of x and y of the color in a chromaticity figure exist in a range 0.33≤x≤0.36, 0.33≤y≤0.37, are arranged at intervals of 3-40 cm. A difference of the chromaticity value of the emitted light color between one of the plurality of white LED light sources and the adjacent white LED light source exists within a range of an ellipse having a longitudinal length and a lateral length twice the longitudinal length (a) and the lateral length (b) of an ellipse computed by using equations:(1) 1/a<SP>2</SP>=g<SB>22</SB>g<SB>12</SB>cotθ; (2) 1/b<SP>2</SP>=g<SB>11</SB>-g<SB>12</SB>cotθ; (3) tan2θ=2g<SB>12</SB>/(g<SB>11</SB>-g<SB>22</SB>) using optional values (g<SB>11</SB>, g<SB>12</SB>and g<SB>22</SB>) on the chromaticity figure as a reference.
