A positive electrode (2) and a negative electrode (3) are contained in a battery case (1) with a separator (4) interposed between the electrodes. The height of the negative electrode (3) contained in the battery case (1) is smaller than the height of the positive electrode (2). The positive electrode (2) contains electrolytic manganese dioxide and graphite, and the potential of the electrolytic manganese dioxide with respect to a mercury oxide (Hg/HgO) reference electrode is within the range of 220-290 mV. |
