The method involves impinging a suspension of a carrier fluid and a toner particle with an ultrasonic wave. A start signal is derived from a digital clock signal of a microcomputer (30) for emitting the ultrasonic wave. A capacitor (34) is charged after a predetermined idle time (t-w). The charging of the capacitor is stopped, when an ultrasonic receiver (22) signals the receiving of the ultrasonic wave. An independent claim is included for a measuring chamber for determining the concentration of toner particles in a carrier fluid in a fluid developer system for a printer or copier.
