A pick-up device (14) picks up rays from a memory layer (12) deposited by a deposit surface (16), which defines an x-y plane. A guiding device (20a,20b) guides the pick-up device or the memory layer on a guiding surface (11a,11b) during generation of relative motion between the pick-up device and the memory layer in an x-direction. The guiding surface is independent of the memory layer. An Independent claim is also included for a method for reading out information stored in a memory layer. |
