<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress coloration due to selective reflection without increasing the content of a chiral agent in a liquid crystal material. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a liquid crystal layer 30 which causes selective reflection and shows Kerr effect, electrodes 108a and 108b for applying a voltage to the liquid crystal layer 30, circular polarizers 40F and 50F installed between the liquid crystal layer 30 and an observer and making circular polarized light, having an opposite rotation direction of an electric field vector from circular polarized light that the liquid crystal material selectively reflects, incident on the liquid crystal layer 30 irradiated with natural light, and circular polarizers 40R and 50R which face the circular polarizers 40F and 50F across the liquid crystal layer 30 and make the circular polarized light incident on the liquid crystal layer 30 when irradiated with the natural light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
