<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable magnetic disk drive by solving a problem caused by contamination occurring when loading/unloading. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The ramp load type magnetic disk drive includes a ramp 20 holding a magnetic head at a retraction position. The ramp 20 includes: a slide surface 21a on which a lift tab 18a formed on a head suspension slides and moves in loading/unloading operation; and cleaning mechanisms (23a, 23b, 24a, and 24b) which guide air flows generated by the rotation of a magnetic recording medium to a surface of the lift tab 18a facing the slide surface 21a and blow air onto the lift tab 18a, thereby blowing away and removing the contamination stuck to the lift tab 18a and the slide surface 21a.
