<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress construction cost of a system using a programmable controller and to simplify cable wiring on the system even if the number of installed counter modules increases. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The programmable controller 20 has a programmable controller body 22 including a CPU module 25 executing a sequence program, and counter modules 23a-23n counting an external pulse signal in response to a signal given from the CPU module 25 for execution of the sequence program and sending a signal relating to the counting to the CPU module 25. In the programmable controller 20, the CPU module and counter modules have wireless antennas 26 and 27a-27n capable of transmitting/receiving the signals to/from each other by radio.
