PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method reducing nitrogen trichloride, which is incorporated in a process of increasing the pressure of chlorine gas, is undesirable for a chlorination reaction and detonates in the case of high concentration when high pressure chlorine gas is supplied to a user using chlorine gas. SOLUTION: A method of producing high purity chlorine gas to supply to the user by increasing the pressure of chlorine gas produced from an anode chamber of an alkali metal salt aqueous solution electrolytic bath in a first stage to raise temperature, cooling the chlorine gas through a primary cooler, increasing the pressure in a second stage to raise temperature and cooling through a secondary cooler to be sent to the user; and a method for producing the high purity chlorine gas by measuring the temperature after the increase of the pressure in the second stage, controlling the quantity of cooling water flowing into the primary cooler to adjust the temperature after the increase of the pressure in second stage and a method for producing the high purity chlorine gas by analyzing the nitrogen trichloride concentration in the chlorine gas after passing through the secondary cooler, controlling the quantity of the cooling water flowing into the primary cooler corresponding to the concentration to adjust the temperature in the increase of the pressure in the secondary stage, are used.
