PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it takes time and effort to prevent an important mail from being deleted by automatic deletion since a user needs to set a mail protection function by himself/herself, and the problem that a user's sense of value is not always reflected as weight in a function by which weighting is performed by using the time elapsed from mail reception to mail opening as a judgment criterion for importance degree. SOLUTION: An e-mail receiving device comprises: a mail receiving part 11 for receiving mail; a mail storage part 13 for storing mail received by the mail receiving part 11; a display part 17 for displaying mail stored in the mail storage part 13; a mail importance degree determination part 14 for determining a degree of importance of mail based on an estimated display time corresponding to the size of mail and a period of time when the mail has been displayed in the display part 17, and performing a control to store the determined degree of importance in the mail storage part 13 in association with the mail; and an automatic mail deletion part 16 for automatically deleting mail in the mail storage part 13 based on the degree of importance.
