The mounting has a bracket or fixing rail which forms a receiving space. The edge area of the inner lining is held in the receiving space by fastening units. The bracket or fixing rail has a stepped offset, and a side of the stepped offset is firmly connected with a component of the vehicle body shell. The vehicle roof is a folding top (2) which is adjustable from a closed position sealing the roof opening in a to-be-opened position.
