Electronic key with a contact connector for a vehicle

The key (10) has a connector (12) contacted with an exterior system during transmission of data and/or electric energy. The connector has a terminal (18) projecting from an internal terminal support (16) of the key, and a seal is maintained between the terminal and the support. An external shell (20) has a universal serial bus (USB) connector (21), a mini USB connector or a micro USB connector, where the shell covers the support. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an electronic key for a motor vehicle.
